Paratopia 061: Phil Imbrogno From The Edge

Now-Disgraced Paranormal investigator Phil Imbrogno is back to talk about his book, Files From The Edge: A Paranormal Investigators Explorations Into High Strangeness. But first, he explains why he left the slums of ufology for high strangeness pastures. This episode covers everything from ghosts to time distortions to djinn to UFOs to the people reporting them.

This is an episode that we thought validated our stance on ufology--and we didn't even steer the conversation there! It didn't because Phil Imbrogno has since proven himself unworthy of the public's trust. But that's many episodes from now. Hate it when that happens.

Wes Owsley was the SysAdmin in Russia for NASA/MIR and the first 3 crews of the ISS. His background is in Anthropology and IT, and he has been studying some subjects in the esoteric for almost 20 years. Wes returns to Paratopia to talk a bit more about NASA and a whole lot about Bulgarian Ufology and the exopolitical scene there. This is another fascinating and informative episode--and, oh, yeah: It's co-hosted by special guest Tim Binnall!

Paratopia 055: Dr. Scott Lilienfeld

The late, great Dr. Scott Lilienfeld was a professor of psychology at Emory University and editor of Scientific Review of Mental Health Practice. He also co-authored 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology and was a contributing blogger at Psychology Today. In what quickly became a controversial and landmark episode, Dr. Lilienfeld not only explored the myth that hypnosis is an appropriate memory retrieval tool for alien abduction research, he destroyed it.

In the process, he, along with The Jeff and The Jer, examined the Emma Woods/David Jacobs debacle that seemed every bit as surreal as the alien abduction stories in Jacobs's books. Was his behavior appropriate? Is this what happens when a man gets too absorbed in his own conclusions about the unknown? Hear Dr. Lilienfeld's initial impressions.

Dr. Hooper is an Associate Scientist in the Theoretical Astrophysics Group at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago. Previously, he was the David Schramm Fellow at Fermilab, and a postdoc at the University of Oxford. He is the author of two books dealing with dark energy and super symmetry: Dark Cosmos and Nature's Blueprint. Tonight, Dr. Hooper makes physics as accessible and fascinating for us as he does for readers of his books--which is to say, QUITE.
